Energy Efficiency Label
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) enforced manufacturers and importers to obtain Energy Efficiency Label for electrical appliances to prove their conformity with the Saudi energy efficiency standards and technical regulations.
The current Energy Efficiency Label is newly applied to replace the old one which was prevented since September 2019, the new label includes seven levels of rationalizing energy consumption and the level of the appliance must be defined in the label.
SASO enforced the Energy Efficiency Label to ensure monitoring and controlling the electrical appliances in the Saudi markets and their compliance, and to unify the form and identity of energy efficiency labels for all appliances so that the consumer can see the energy efficiency rates for each product easily and simply.
Energy Efficiency Label purpose
The Energy Efficiency Label is affixed on the products within its scope for consumer awareness, as it includes simplified information about the product performance and the energy consumption efficiency in addition to providing some necessary information to help the consumer while buying the product.
The label allows consumers to use a verification application, to verify the validity of the labels, by using the scan feature for QR code of energy efficiency labels, so the label information is verified by comparing the data shown on the application with the data shown on the label. In case of non-confirming information, the consumer may use the reporting feature and move directly to the application of the Ministry of Commerce and Investment.
Energy Efficiency Label requirements
- The organization should be registered in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry or registered in the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization SASO.
- The product should be conformed to the Saudi energy efficiency standards and meets the label requirements.
- Products must be tested according to the relevant regulations in a laboratory accredited from SASO to register for the new label.
Energy Efficiency Label registration process
- Submitting a new application for each model of products to be licensed via SLS Online System.
- Filling the attached forms and providing all the required data and documents.
- Attaching the test reports issued from an accredited laboratory, and attach a valid copy of the accreditation certificate, to prove that the product was tested and proved its conformity to the standard
- A semi-annual report must be submitted forSASO including the sales numbers in the Kingdom for the product holding the label license.
- When the license to use the label is issued it can be used only for products and models described in detail in the license, and can’t be used for any other products or models.
