Product Safety

The General Department for Product Safety aims to enhance product safety in the market by limiting the entry of non-conforming products by issuing the annual conformity index and providing information and reports of the index to the supervisory body and technical regulations preparation teams.

That is to arrange their priorities and facilitate commercial procedures through the Saber platform, by linking the supplier or the local factory with conformity assessment bodies to issue the required conformity certificates.

As well as, automating the procedures of the product tracking department and managing access to the market with its tools to issue the necessary certificates to expedite and facilitate the procedures for submitting applications and linking them to the competent bodies and achieving the satisfaction of the beneficiaries through the development of Saber platforms.

That comes to exemptions continuously and making the necessary improvements to ensure the satisfaction of the beneficiaries and facilitate as well as, creating an inquiries center for Saber platform so that beneficiaries’ inquiries are answered and their problems solved.

Workshops, courses, and awareness lectures are held in coordination with the relevant authorities.​

Product Tracking Department (SABER)

The main task of Saber platform is to automate tracking of products and technical processes that occurred during the supply chain and raising the percentage of safe products.

It allows the trader and the local manufacturer to register the required certificates of conformity and issue a consignment certificate electronically for consumer goods, whether imported or locally manufactured, to enter the Saudi market.

The electronic platform aims to protect commercial establishments from fraud and tampering with technical documents, in addition, to ensure that the products are free from defects that may affect the health and safety of the consumer or his environment.

 

Saber objectives:

1. Raise the level of safe products in the market.
2. Reducing the time required to clear consumer products.
3. Accelerate the registration procedures for the required certificate of conformity.​

 

Conformity Indicator Department​​​

This department issues the general indicator of conformity, which is one of the pillars of the product safety initiative, one of the initiatives of the National Transformation Program of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and this indicator measures the extent to which goods and products in the Saudi market conform to the relevant technical regulations and standards, in pursuit of the strategic goal aimed at enhancing consumers safety.

 

The mechanism for issuing this indicator depends on forming a basket of products purchased from various regions of the Kingdom, and then testing them in accordance with the requirements of the standard specifications, and then announcing the percentage of conformity for each product to reach the general indicator of conformity.

 

SanedCert
