National Certificate of Recognition (IECEE) for Electrotechnical equipment is required for a number of products to access the Kingdom’s markets

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization(SASO) has obligated suppliers to obtain the National Recognition Certificate (IECEE) for electrotechnical equipment for a number of products, to enable clearance at customs ports, and products placing in the Kingdom’s markets, starting from the date / 7/2021.

SASO indicated that this decision will apply to each of electrical cooking utensils such as water boilers, all kinds of coffee machines, electric oil fryers, electric pumps with a capacity of 5 horses or less for all uses, and electric power cables, and the decision also includes video games devices and its accessories such as (video game consoles, controllers, wireless headsets, chargers, and their accessories).

The Saudi Standards emphasized that requiring suppliers to obtain the IECEE national recognition certificate for these products aims to control the market for high-risk electrical products and protect it from inferior or counterfeit devices, and to ensure the application of Saudi standards to protect the consumer and the market from imported products that do not conform to the standards and ensure the safety of the product, in addition to reducing the accidents that these products may cause, and facilitating the entry of goods through customs ports without repeated testing.

It is noteworthy that SASO issued (9.204) licenses for IECEE products in 2020.
