The International Standardization Organization (ISO) ranked the Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) as one of the best African and Arab standardization organizations. 

SASO participates as a major member in the Regional Participation policy initiative (REP) which aims to:

Supporting ISO strategy implementation.

Improving communication, cooperation, and partnership among the organization members.

Supporting maintaining the capabilities of the members.

Encouraging regional accordance with the international standards.

providing training and technical support.
