The Communications and Information Technology Commission, in cooperation with the General Authority for Zakat and Tax and the General Customs Authority, announced the initiative for the post payment of customs and tax duties due on imported shipments through the licensed international courier companies for 21 days starting from the clearance date, this comes within the framework of the cooperation of all concerned authorities to empower the companies providing the service and encourage more investment in the logistics postal services sector in the Kingdom.
This initiative represents the cooperation of the concerned authorities in taking all measures to enhance the interest of the sector, and supporting the companies providing the service by allowing post payment of these fees due on imported shipments.
This initiative also aims to facilitate regulatory procedures for the sector, in order to enhance investment opportunities in the postal logistics sector in the Kingdom, and to encourage the entry of new companies into the market, in fulfillment of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision to make it a leading global logistical platform.
This initiative comes as a result of studying the current situation of the postal logistics market in the Kingdom, measuring its needs, monitoring the challenges facing service-providing companies, and providing solutions that would overcome these difficulties, to contribute to enhancing the financial flows of companies, and then improving the management of their operations and the quality of service provided to
the final beneficiary.
The three authorities concerned with this initiative also confirmed that it is valid for all postal logistical companies licensed by the Communications and Information Technology Commission, and that collecting customs duties and delayed value-added tax will be in accordance with the collection procedures approved by the General Customs Authority.
